Release Overview

NetBeans IDE 6.8 is the first IDE to offer complete support for the entire Java EE 6 spec with improved support for JSF 2.0/Facelets, Java Persistence 2.0, EJB 3.1 including using EJBs in web applications, RESTful web services, and GlassFish v3. Netbeans 6.8 is also recommended for developing with the latest JavaFX SDK 1.2.1, and for creating PHP web applications with the new PHP 5.3 release or with the Symfony Framework.

Netbeans 6.8 includes unique integration of Project Kenai, a collaborative environment for hosting open-source projects, now comes with full JIRA support, and improved instant messenger and issue tracker integration. Netbeans 6.8 contains features to the IDE’s Maven and database integration, and improved the editor and tools integration of Ruby, Groovy, and C/C++ projects.

The following updates to release Netbeans 6.5.1 included in version Netbeans 6.7 also apply to netbeans 6.7.1:

  • Netbeans 6.7.1 contains Kenai integration enables the creation and editing of Kenai hosted projects from within the netbeans IDE

Java Development Kit 6 Update 17 ( JDK 6 update 17 )

The JDK (which includes the JRE) is required to develop Java and JavaFX applications and applets. This special release JDK 6 update 17 provides a few key fixes.

Java Development Kit 6 Update 14 ( JDK 6 update 14 )

This release of jdk is Windows 7 support-ready and includes support for Internet Explorer 8, Windows Server 2008 SP2, and Windows Vista SP2. New features include the G1 garbage collector, plus performance and security enhancements.
